Gothic Beach Studio’s 10 Year Anniversary

Blade Rhino, Founder & Promoter along with Robin Graves, Props Master started the infamous Gothic Beach Studio back in 1993 in a small cottage off the coast of Long Beach, CA as an after-hours hang out for all sorts of bohemian, artistic, free-spirited types. At the time it was affectionately dubbed the “Gothic Beach House”, but soon evolved into the mega promotion company known today.

Engaging the talents of like-minded fiends in 1996, Blade Rhino gave life to Gothic Beach Studio and started a sort of renaissance in the gothic/industrial/vampiric scene. “Vampiricus” emerged as the premier Gothic dance club in the South Bay; an alternative to the high-priced, pretentious Hollywood clubs of the time. Shortly thereafter, projects such as the “Mad Tea Party” and the grand “Bizarre Vampire Bazaar” showed that GBS was a creative and inventive force in the scene.

GBS has continued to strive for Gothic excellence and originality; trying to keep cost low for its’ patrons, while producing events that are intriguing & entertaining. Vampires, freaks, the unclean, the soulless — all have gathered here. We are many, we are one, we are you.

Guest band: Death In Dresden

Death in Dresden began as the solo project of Maury Morfiend. The lead guitarist and co-songwriter for the band Les Poetes Maudits (the cursed poets). Shortly after releasing their first c.d., and playing some great shows, the Poetes disbanded due to conflict of interests. The new project quickly started to form from the ashes of the previous band with Maury on guitar, and vocals. Armand d. crepet on bass. And computer rendered sequences. The sound was very dark and moody. Focusing on the cold indifference of shattered hopes to fuel the music and lyrics. Just as the name of the project symbolizes the folly of mankinds thirst for war and destruction. Some of many influences came to mind in this new project. Joy division,Bauhaus, tones on tail, and death in June to name a few. The first c.d. death and the game. Was released in early 2001 on death rock records. It starts out on the slower somber side of things with death and the game, and the cage. Then it kicks into a faster and more cynical feel, with songs like the Clip, and Am I blind. All in all…the c.d. came out very gloom and doom! (As dubbed by Mark Splatter .of deathrock.com.) “I believe it reflects the sourest times I was going through when I was working on it… Starting out as a sort of venting tool at first, it became the vessel of rediscovering my beliefs and myself. ” (M Morfiend.) AFTER A VERY LONG BRAKE (ABOUT 4 YEARS) The second c.d. (affectionately titled seduced by the night), is in the works. We hope to finish recording by early FEB 2007. Until then, don’t wear colors only dogs can hear and check out http://www.starvox.net/photos/did/death.htm and http://deathrock.com/ for deathrock news and reviews.
