TOR LUNDVALL NEW ALBUM

Tor Lundvall Sampler CD Available the 1st of Autumn 2007
A surprise underground success of the last year has been the evocative “ghost ambient” music of Tor Lundvall, his _Empty City_ album (2006) attracting his widest and most enthusiastic attention to date.
Tor has lately been written up by magazines from Terrascope to Terrorizer, and his music has been heard nationally on NPR radio stations on the “Echoes” and “Hearts of Space” radio programs.
While for many listeners _Empty City_ came as a first glimpse of Tor Lundvall’s distinctive world, his unmistakable ambient soundscape craft happens to stretch back a few years.
Following the buzz of _Empty City_, Tor Lundvall and Strange Fortune have decided to make available a special sampler CD that offers a taste of some of Tor’s most delicious tracks from his earlier years.
The new sampler CD is called Tor Lundvall’s _The Seasons Unfold Sampler_, and it takes the listener on a journey through four seasons of deep and hazy, reverb-loaded “ghost ambient” sonics.
Tor Lundvall’s _The Seasons Unfold Sampler_ is offered free to Strange Fortune customers placing orders at strangefortune.com, starting the first day of Autumn (September 23rd, 2007) and lasting until supplies run out.
Tor’s next major release in the works is a deluxe box set to be entitled _The Seasons Unfold_ (release date TBA), that will present his first four ambient solo albums together in one package for the first time.
Tor Lundvall comments on The Seasons Unfold Sampler
This promotional sampler gives me the opportunity to release alternate versions of songs that would never have seen the light of day otherwise, as the bonus tracks for the forthcoming 4-CD set have already been chosen.
‘Whir’ was the very first track I recorded for the “Ice” album in November 1995. I revisited the track a few months later and laid down this second mix. I originally intended ‘mix #2′ to be the final track on the album, however the running order just didn’t feel right so the track was abandoned.
The re-recorded version of “29″ was originally intended as the B-Side of a 7″ single with a (as yet unreleased) re-recording of “Ghost Girl” as the A-Side. The single never happened, however I’m quite fond of this ‘cleaner and more atmospheric’ version, which is rare for a re-recording.
The original take of ‘The Backyard’ is similar to the version which appears on “Under the Shadows of Trees”, however it’s more stripped down and was recorded more spontaneously. I feel this version sounds more natural and laid back as a result.
‘November’s Fields’ was recorded back in November 1993 just after I finished the basic tracks for “Autumn Calls” in October. It’s a soundtrack for grey skies and rusty leaves, and it still manages to evoke memories of late Autumn by the sea where I live. I’m still deciding whether or not this track will end up on the set’s 4th bonus disc “Turning”. It may end up being exclusive to this sampler. Time, and a few more mastering sessions will tell.
