SOME PLACE ELSE NEW RELEASES

December 28th, 2007 by ALT+165

Bardoseneticcube + Noises of Russia : New Orthodox Line

New Orthodox Line brings together two of the most notable Russian post-industrial / experimental groups: Bardoseneticcube and Noises of Russia. This unique collaboration stirs the best of both artists to surface, and results in an extremely powerful and intense emotional experience. The opus travels from sacral soundscapes of orthodox choirs and church bells to a more punishing end of the sonic spectrum provided by pounding rhythms and howling feedback. Here, the opposites unite with passion and compliment each other for the sake of the greater good, the synergetic New Orthodox Line.

Noises of Russia is a highly active Russian experimental music act, with practically countless live performances and a number of albums and videos under their belt. This four member group uses styles and imagery from dark ambient to drone, all the while never forgetting traditional noise music. Their unique mixture of influences, along with their extremely powerful use of vocals, create an unforgettable experience in modern music.

Bardoseneticcube, having released dozens of albums on various labels worldwide, has gained recognition in the international experimental / electronic scene. Bardoseneticcube self-describes their music as “surrealism”, using A. Breton’s description: “pure psychic automatism willing to express the real functioning of the reflection either orally or written, or in any other form. Dictation of mind without any control from the intellect, outside of any aesthetic of moral considerations”.

Gelsomina + no Xivic : Furnace

Furnace is an unlikely yet strangely natural union of no Xivic, renowned sculptor of dark electro-acoustic soundscapes, and Gelsomina, Finland’s most prolific harsh noise artist. The title track, also the main piece on the album, is a live collaboration recorded in late 2006, a grand opus of psychedelic noise with a peculiar ‘kraut’ flavour! In addition to this, both artists created exclusive tracks on their own to complete the album. In total, Furnace is a 44-minute blast of fire, brimstone and hazardous electric currents, and thus a fine completion of Some Place Else’s tenth year of activity.

Worry not, reviews coming soon for your enjoyment. Releases are to be posted promptly and yet our espacioalternativo staff has to listen the chaotic music to really understand what’s going on. Here will be posting the excerpts of a mind at work to indulge the hungry ears waiting for more noise to come.

About the Record Label

Some Place Else is a record label and mail order devoted to various forms of experimental, esoteric, eccentric and electronic music and art. Established 1997, run by artists, located in Finland, dealing worldwide.

Over the ten years and almost 50 releases, the label’s release plan has constantly been on the bleeding edge. Instead of relying on safe genre assumptions or grasping for quick sales, Some Place Else has explored the experimental and electronic music underground and brought up interesting and original new artists who might otherwise have remained unknown. Some Place Else has released material from artists such as Ovro, Niko Skorpio, Moljebka Pvlse, Hæretici 7o74, Ibrahim Terzic, Bardoseneticcube, Noises of Russia, Lasse Marhaug, Leif Elggren, Kouhei Matsunaga, Reptiljan, Gelsomina, No Xivic, Clop Neplat and many others.

Some Place Else also runs an online shop and mailorder that regularly ships to all continents and is one of the most important dealers of experimental electronic and industrial music in Finland.

Surviving the decade with the uncompromising profile that many would consider financial suicide, Some Place Else remains faithful to the underground. Even though the editions are relatively small, the label’s releases are available worldwide, supported by a dedicated underground network of mailorders and distributors.
