Girls Front the Next British Invasion When Scanners and The Hedrons Cross the Atlantic On the Rock Save The Queen US Tour
(LOS ANGELES, Calif.) – Exolution Entertainment proudly presents Meridian UK – a new venture sponsored by UK Trade & Investment to raise awareness of UK indie bands on tour in America. ROCK SAVE THE QUEEN is the first in the series of international tours and features UK indie rockers Scanners and The Hedrons.
“We are primarily focusing our energies on promoting these two break-out bands in the first of a series of tours that will expand awareness of new generations of British acts in the American marketplace,” says John Wooler, president of Exolution Entertainment. “We are especially excited to promote these two bands – Scanners and The Hedrons – young promising artists who offer a female perspective to the post punk era.”
The debut tour features two of the UK’s brightest post-punk stars – London, England’s Scanners and Glasgow, Scotland’s The Hedrons, who will be blazing across the West Coast following their SXSW performances in Austin, TX. Of the Scanners, Rock Insider describes their debut album Violence Is Golden, as “ridiculously catchy and deserves all the attention it’s getting.” The Hedrons are receiving critical acclaim from major British media with Mojo proclaiming them as “self-assured and deliciously energizing… The Hedrons debut is a pedal-to-the-metal affair of great promise,” and the NME, who is sponsoring the tour, asserts, “Patti Smith meets Penetration with a dash of early Blondie and a smidging of The Runaways… you have to hear this band.”
Spearheading the crusade is Scanners with their stark brand of indie rock, led by Sarah, a Siouxsie Sioux incarnate for the blogosphere. Scanners earned their stripes on their native soil supporting troopers from the last brigade — The Bravery — as well as ˇForward Russia!, The Rakes and Electric Six. Their Meridian UK appearance will no doubt establish colonies of fans throughout the West.
Brandishing the heavier artillery is The Hedrons; the all-female pop punk outfit is louder than bombs with more grit under their nails than the piano boys of the last British wave. Their sound doesn’t necessarily scream darling, yet their debut album, “One More Won’t Kill Us” debuted in the Top 40 on the UK Indie Charts in February with earlier singles cracking the Top 5 on the Singles Chart. Clearly they have established themselves as royalty of the MySpace generation, and very soon they will seize control of your space.
Sure they come armed, but don’t be alarmed — this is a goodwill mission of guitar-driven diplomacy. At a time when guys rule the American rock music scene, led by manufactured Idols bearing bleeding hearts shaped into power ballads, there’s an urgent call for a woman’s strength. Well, here they come. Rock Save The Queen.
